The Task
This project is for a product line consisting of three wines produced by a winery in the Thracian Valley. Our task was to create a packaging design characteristic of the region, which could also be a collectable.
In the design of the project, wine is interpreted as a mythical drink through which one can go to the world of immortality through initiation into the mystery. We have used the ancient art of Anamorphosis (distorted projection, which from a certain point of view allows you to see the image), as a symbolic disintegration, a tearing of the image after a symbolic death, on the path of self-perception.
The names we have given to the wines echo the names of heroes from legends and contain the word ANAMORPHOSIS:
Orpheus – ANAMORFEO
Zalmoxis – ZALMORPHIS
Dionysus - DIONYOSIS

The Solution
We made a unique proposal - using composite materials and legends from the Thracian mysteries.
The project is based on anamorphosis. The mirror is an atribute of Dionysus Zagreus, who was dismembered by the Titans. It is also one of the sacred objects in the Orphic mysteries. The mirror can divide the whole and so it is a symbol of death by fragmentation, however, it can also bring the image back together and so represent rebirth.
The Packaging
The package consists of:
1. Outer tube - with a picture of a mask, symbolic death;
2. Inner label - a mirror surface with golden eyes (symbolizing the point of immortality) on one side and Thracian symbols on the other side;
3. A sheet with a distorted image.

3. A sheet with a distorted image.
There is a mask on the packaging - a representation of the symbolic death that Zagreus undergoes. Inside there is a sheet - a magical drawing which contracts when reflected in the label of the bottle and reveals the intended image. On the inside there is an anamorphosis, a symbolic collapse, a fragmented image of the symbolic death one undergoes on the road to self-actualization.
If the wine bottle is placed on the correct spot, the image would come together again on it, revealing a mirror representation of rebirth. It is created anew and immortalized. This is why there is a mirror label on the bottle with only the eyes, the focal point of this immortalization, printed on it.
The hero sees his otherworldly self in the mirror, i.e. after his death, he will enter a new anthropodemonic stasis of immortality, akin to the mythological Thracian divinities Dionysus, Orpheus and Zalmoxis.
