The Task
We got a project for chocolate popcorn with the trademark “Head in hat” from the trade house “Korporatsiya Udachi”. With this project we continued the development of the circus themed line we previously created for the same company - “Fortune cookies”. The client had the idea to create a clown character who will attract the gaze on the shelf and would create a magical atmosphere. When we have a character on the package, the design always has to present a plot, which follows the interaction between the character, the product and the trademark.
In the design we created the following story – a clown, who rides a unicycle along a rope, as we are used to seeing in the circus, while juggling the product and creating a magical atmosphere. This way he recalls positive, magical emotions from childhood. The popcorn itself is half-dipped in chocolate and we made them resemble little hats, conveying the name of the trademark “Head in hat” in the product design. We wrote the trademark with an interesting font, completely integrating the vision of the overall package and focusing on the meaning of the name. We looked for jolly, bright colors, which would be noticed on the shelf and radiate the feeling of reckless abandon and joyfulness.
