The Task
The task comprised designing bright, vibrant packaging with an exaggerated image of the potato chips from this product line in order to create an effect by highlighting its unusual shape - what differentiated this particular food from other similar products.
The market is full of world-famous potato chip brands - they've conquered the store shelf in this area of the food industry. Anyone trying to find a place on the market for a new brand of potato chips has to adopt an innovative approach and offer something of their own - something which distinguishes their product from the rest. In this case it was the shape of the chips.
We drew attention to the unusual shape by having a very large picturesque image of the product itself on the packaging. It was challenging because, as we were working at a distance from our client, we only received a photo taken with a mobile phone, so we practically had to draw the finished image from scratch.
Trade Mark
An appetizing, mouth-watering illustration of the product - this is absolutely necessary to make a customer notice the packaging and want to make a purchase. We purposefully enlarged the image of the product as much as the packaging would allow, so that the unique shape of the chips could be easily seen even at a distance, and the customer would have no trouble identifying the specific taste. We chose bright, saturated, contrasting colors for the background of the packaging designs, and added a dark area vertically along the middle of each to create a layered effect and add depth to the image.
