The Task
The Barnaul milk processing plant, one of the biggest in Russia, tasked us with the design of a series of cheese in a high price range under the trademark “Romber”. The cheese is created with a Swiss technology in Russia and the client expected this to be reflected in the design of the packages.
Products in the high price range are recognizable by a stylish design, often accentuated by black, gold and silver. In this case, this had to be combined with the requirements for the design and represent the connection between the cheese and Switzerland. In Russia, Swiss cheese is popular and it sets the standard for quality, this is why in the design we proposed not only did we suggest the connection of this product to the region but directly placed Swiss symbols in the design itself, which made the connection undeniable.
It is very characteristic for products in the high price range to create the feeling of a personal connection, that it was handmade following an old recipe because this creates additional trust in the buyer. This is why, in order to be even more convincing, we created a “fromager” character, designed in vector. Why vector? Because this is a complicated and old illustration technique which additionally brings the mood of an older time, so the product itself gives the sense of a long-lasting tradition in Swiss quality cheese making.
