The Task
The stock company “Konditereskaya fabrika Saratovskaya”, which produces a variety of well-known products in Russia, chose our studio to create the design of a new trademark and the line of packages for different products under the names “Chudesnitsa”.
The name of a product naturally defines the direction that the design will take. We were looking for a female character which on one hand would create the feeling of magic and wonder, while on the other hand would be fitting for the visual representation of a trademark. The main challenge was to separate ourselves from characters that would be associated with kid’s products, and instead are memorable and would attract a much bigger target audience, as well as be associated with the nature of the product sold by our client.
In the process of our work, we reached the conclusion that the most fitting image would be that of a traditional, young, Slavic, female face with entwined wheat instead of braids – an element, which we immediately associate with the nature of our product, which is made of wheat. We placed the traditional Russian kokoshnik on her head – old and traditional Russian headwear which represents tradition, history and trust and by extension gives these qualities to our product as well. We used sunshine yellow and gold as the main colors so that they add nobility and regality to the package. We made a halo of sunshine with reflexes and shine around the trademark, richly decorated with different shades of yellow and gold, which creates the illusion of the work of a magic wand that our “Chudesnitsa” used to create those wonderful products.
This color and background, which is also the base of the packages of all products in the line, is not chosen randomly. We wanted the customer to feel this entire golden wheat field, basking in sunlight in a wonderful summer day. As if the package itself warms us up and tells the story of the “Chudesnitsa” – a beautiful fairy, who with the wave of her magic wand, provides us with this wonderful Russian wheat that the “Konditereskaya fabrika Saratovskaya” company uses to create its products.
