The Task
We created a design for a trademark and a series of packages of different kinds of grain for the company “Amurskie Prostori”. The design had to be visually related to the name and to represent the specific region and its ecological value.
When we started working on this project, we got familiar with the geographical characteristics of the Amur region and decided to show some of its amazing nature in the package design.
The composition contains a beautiful landscape – a sky, river, mountains and trees, typical for the Amur region. The illustration gives off the feeling of nature and accents on its beauty, as well as combining the design of the packages with the name. We paid special attention to the sky so that we show its vastness. To create more depth, we painted the reflection of the sky in the river water. Pay attention to the trees, they aren’t perfectly even – one of them is leaning on one side, as it can be often seen in wilderness.
The trademark harmoniously is placed in the upper part of the package, in the sky, so that it’s clear of any other elements, so that it amplifies the sense of open air. We painted the letters to be light and airy to create the feeling of weightlessness. To add more dynamic and to connect the trademark with the illustration, we added the flying birds headed straight for the TM, basically in the expanse. In the lower part there is a base, along with an illustration of the product and a window, through which the product is visible. According to the laws of design, when there is a window in a package for any kind of grain, it has to be placed in the lower part of the package, but not too low so that no crumbling is visible. It also shouldn’t be too high, where the package might not be entirely filled. It should be placed in that perfect part where the best parts of the product will be shown.
Since the series was comprised of many different kinds of products, we needed a colorful base, along with the product illustration to diversify the different products.
This project with its wonderful name “Amurskie prostori”, gave us the inspiration and the opportunity to reveal a part of the wonderful Russian nature.
